What is HippoBytes? [video]

HippoBytes is a RetroTech journal. This basically means its a “do you remember” site for geeks and gamers. But thats a lot of fun for me.  It’s meant to capture the memories of the technology revolution with an emphasis on early gaming (retrograming) from the late 70’s through the 90’s.  Not only was I extremely technical (built my own PC’s since 1991, I was lucky enough to work at a software/video game store where I was able to try all the PC and console games I could.  Sit back and enjoy the nostalgia as I document my memories of that revolution.

Other items we will be pondering:

  • 8-bit gaming and computers

  • 16-bit gaming and computers
  • The advances to 32-bit
  • Vintage electronics (I can’t wait to break out Dark Tower)
  • The evolution of magnetic media and discs.
  • Vintage computers: Tandy TRS-80 Color Computer 2 and 3, Commodore 64 and 128, Amiga 500 and 1000, 8086, 286, 386 and on
  • Modems – what we did before the internet
  • Programming (BASIC, Pascal, C++)
  • When the network came in

And more.
